Always From

the Heart

Katie's second book, Always From the Heart, is a compilation

of poetry for children.  It includes fun stories with important

  moral lessons

"Duke's Day" was inspired by my dog, Duke, who spends countless hours at my feet when I am writing and illustrating.  The story tells of Duke's adventure learning what sounds animals make.
"Einstein the Emu" was inspired by a real emu named Einstein who was rescued by my friends Gil and Sharon who live on a farm near my parents in Pennsylvania.  The story talks of the impact of being a braggart.
"The Goats and the Thinking Tree" was inspired by my mother-in-law during a trip to Pennsylvania.  The goats in the story were based on goats observed on a farm in Pennsylvania.  The story speaks of gullibility and responsibility.
"The Backyard Creepy Crawler Critter Convention" discusses different types of animals and unique qualities.  The story includes trivia and factoids about different animals attending the convention.
"Cowboy Phil at the County Fair" was one of the most fun stories to write and share.  The main character is based on a close friend.  The story talks of friendship and experiences at a county fair.
